Symmetry in Jewish History

  • 100 Years - From the birth of Avraham to the birth of Yitzchak (1948 - 2048)
  • 190 Years - From the birth of Yitzchak to the beginning of the exile in Mitzraim (2048-2238)
  • 210 Years - From the beginning of the exile in Mitzraim until Yetziat Mitzraim (2238 - 2448)
  • 40 Years - In the desert (2448 - 2488)
  • 440 Years - From the entrance to Eretz Yisrael to the beginning of the 1st Beit HaMikdash (2488 - 2928)
  • 410 Years - From the construction of the 1st Beit HaMikdash to its destruction (2928 - 3338)
  • 70 Years - From the destruction of the 1st Beit HaMikdash to the building of the 2nd Beit HaMikdash (3338 - 3408)
  • 420 Years - From the construction of the 2nd Beit HaMikdash to its destruction (3408 - 3828)
  • 1880 Years - From the destruction of the 2nd Beit HaMikdash to the founding of the modern state of Israel (3828 - 5708)

This is the general progression of Jewish history from 1948 to 1948 (i.e. the year 1948 from creation, to 1948 of the secular calendar). And as one would expect from that fact that they are the same year in those 2 different calendars, the difference between the beginning and end is exactly 3760 years, as this is the general margin of difference between the two calendars.

However, what is not so obvious is that this is also 2 equal periods of time hinged around one year, the year of the destruction of the 2nd Beit HaMikdash in 3828.

  • 1880 Years - From the birth of Avraham to the destruction of the 2nd Beit HaMikdash (1948 - 3828)
  • 1880 Years - From the destruction of the 2nd Beit HaMikdash to the founding of the modern state of Israel (3828 - 5708)

  1. Jaffeh. There is another symmetry with HaKamat Bayit Rishon in between Yetziat Mitzrayim and HaKamat Bayit Sheni.

  2. Have you looked at some of the important years in Avraham's life?

  3. You found something?

  4. 1948 - Birth of Avraham
2018 - Saved from Ur Kasdim and went to Charan and stayed there 5 years (according to the GR"A)
2023 - Avraham left Charan for Eretz Yisrael, went to Mitzrayim and returned to Chevron.
2034 - The birth of Yishmael
2039 - Churban Sdom, Avraham went to Eretz Plishtim
    2040 - Birth of Yitzhak

  5. That was taken from the sefer Maaseh Breishit (nice sefer with charts put out recently).

  6. You mean: add 3760. The five years mapping to 5778-5783 are very interesting. I think Seder Olam itself says that Avraham went back for five years. Did Avraham return because he "felt" the future problems? Sacrificed five years of living in the Land for the Geula? Thanks.

  7. As I learned it Avraja, came to Eretz Yisrael in 2018, and then was Brit Bein HaBetarim, and after that went back to Charan for five years.

  8. (Correction) As I learned it, Avraham came to Eretz Yisrael in 2018, and then was Brit Bein HaBetarim, and after that went back to Charan for five years.

  9. Indeed that is what the Seder Olam Rabba says. Here's the lashon of the GR"A there copied from the 2001 edition from Yerid HaSefarim, page 72.

  10. Thanks. I did not know this. It actually makes more sense than Seder Olam. It makes one wonder what Ur Kasdim would mean for us.

  11. A quick thought:

Being saved from the Ur (Kivshan HaEsh, Nimrod).

Living in a different inbetween state for 5 years.

Making it Eretz Yisrael briefly, going to Mitzraim, leaving Mitzraim to come to Eretz Yisrael.

  12. So this brings me back to the Inyan with Yosef, the brothers thought it was a continuation of the pattern of having one bad son, this is brought in Kol HaTor.

What's the Kesher? The birth of Yishmael is the shedding of the klippah of the right. You know the implication.

  13. May we merit skipping Mitzrayim. You know, it's assur to go there...

  14. Now, we can assume that the 1880 years was to a restart of history or that it is a start of the countdown, which might be the meaning of ונצדק קדש. If so, let's lay Avraham and Yitzchak both begin on 5708, one to rid us the klipah of the left, and one to rid us of the klipah of the right.

The birth of Esav (and Yaakov) would therefore be 5768. Not far off.

  15. We could make it fit. The medina will not be 61 of age until after Pesach 5769.

  16. I prefer this: perhaps the start for the Count of the Right is 5708 and that of the Left is 5709. That way there is no (seeming) inconsistency in how we count the years.

  17. Regardless of the methodology, Yaakov got the Bechorah from Esav when Yitzchak was 75 years old. 5708 + 75 = 5783

  18. Now it makes sense. The Klipah was born from Yitzchak when he was 60, but he the Bechorah was still with the Klipah for 15 more years.

  19. You are reaching high. It makes sense indeed.

  20. A 15 year struggle over the Bechorah.

Perhaps it is time for an Excel spreadsheet.

I would like to know what exactly segulat hayom was today.

  21. Segulat HaYom: a step towards the return of prophecy. I think you experienced it yourself.
